Who We Are

About Us

Built by industry insiders. Funded by nobody.

We started this site because we kept having the same conversation. A founder would ask us: "I need to redesign my website — which agency should I use?" Most ranking sites we found were either outdated, suspiciously littered with sponsored placements, or so US-centric they ignored extraordinary work happening across the rest of the world. So we built the resource we wished existed.

We Built the Resource
We Wished Existed.

WebDesignAgencyRankings.com is run by a small editorial team with deep roots in the design and technology industry. Between us, we have experience working at design agencies, in-house at tech companies, and as independent consultants advising businesses on their digital strategy. We've hired agencies. We've been agencies. We've reviewed the work of agencies at award shows and industry panels. We know this world from the inside.

We are not a marketing company. We don't run ads. We don't have a referral fee arrangement with any agency on this site. Our only incentive is to publish rankings that people can actually trust — because if we do that, people will keep coming back.

Our editorial team includes practicing UX designers, creative directors, and front-end developers. We review hundreds of agencies each year, tracking new work, award results, and industry chatter before finalising the annual list — published each Q1 and updated again in Q3.

Our Editorial Independence

How we protect the integrity of our rankings.

Every ranking decision is made by our editorial team alone, based on our published methodology. Agencies are not notified in advance of their placement and have no opportunity to influence it. If an agency contacts us to request removal or modification of a ranking, we note the contact and do not act on it unless we identify a factual error in our coverage.

We do accept corrections and counter-evidence. If an agency believes our assessment is factually wrong, they can submit documentation for review. We are committed to accuracy, not inflexibility.

Our team members are also prohibited from taking paid consulting work with any agency that appears on or is being considered for our rankings. This isn't just a policy — it's a condition of being part of the editorial team.

Why This Matters

The real cost of choosing the wrong agency.

Choosing the wrong web design agency is an expensive mistake — not just financially, but in time, momentum, and missed opportunity. We've seen businesses spend $50,000 on a website that launches six months late and converts worse than the one it replaced. We've also seen $8,000 projects with boutique studios outperform everything a category leader produced.

The difference is almost never budget. It's fit: matching the right agency to the right project at the right moment. That nuance is something a simple price comparison or a sponsored "top 10" list will never give you.

Our mission is simple: give businesses the information they need to make great decisions. Not just to find an agency — to find the right one.

We believe that well-informed buyers lead to better client-agency relationships, which leads to better work, which raises the standard of the entire industry. This site is our small contribution to that cycle.

Global, Not Just US & UK

Why geography matters in our rankings.

Most agency ranking sites are heavily biased toward agencies based in the United States and United Kingdom — partly because that's where the editorial teams are based, and partly because those agencies tend to have bigger marketing budgets and louder PR machines.

We have deliberately built a team with international perspective — and we actively seek out agencies in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and beyond. Some of the most technically ambitious and creatively distinct work in digital design is coming from studios in New Zealand, the Netherlands, Iceland, and countries that rarely appear on mainstream lists.

If your project has a global audience, you deserve to know about the global talent pool. We intend to keep expanding our coverage as we grow.
